Today is a day off on our own to catch up with friends from Rochester and the past. We meet John and Becky who live in our neighborhood in Rochester but spend winters in Ft Meyers.

We went on a hike with John and Becky at Prairie Pines Preserve in North Fort Meyers. Saw some birds: Sand Hill Crane, Wood Stork and a Little Blue Heron. We around 15,000 steps so a good hike.

After the hike we had lunch at The Big Storm brewery.

We spent a little time in a parking lot of a Publics taking a nap then were off to dinner with Sandy and Mark Kristobak at the Keg and Cow.

Florida 2022 Day 15: January 27, 2022

 A day trip to Cabbage Key and North Captiva.

Very pricey lunch at Cabbage Key then a walk to the beach on North Captiva.

Finished the day at Phuzzy's Boat Shack.

Florida 2022 Day 14: January 26, 2022

Hiked the St Jude Trail with Joe and Shellie in the morning. About a .9 mile out and back to view the St James creek, which is more like a river. Before we left we were visited by the roaming group of White Ibis.

In the afternoon we went into Matlacha island to go to meet Leoma Lovegrove, a local artist and distant relative of Roland's. Had a late lunch/early dinner at the Blue Dog which was great.

Campfire ended the day.

 

Florida 2022 Day 13: January 25, 2022

Beautiful sunrise started the day. We met Al and Ann Smith for lunch at Hooked on Matlacha Island.

Went for a hike at Pine Island Flatwoods Preserve. Part of the trail was closed due to nesting Eagles.

I played my first game of Rumikubs.

Florida 2022 Day 12: January 24, 2022

Spent the day on Sanibel Island. Lunch at the lighthouse followed by a walk on the beach there. Then drove the length of Sanibel to Captiva. Were unable to find a place for all the vans to park so we went back to Sanibel and parked at the Lazy Flamingo and had snacks and drinks. Breaded, Buffalo style grouper bites were delightful.

 Drove from Orlando over to the Tampa area and snagged a spot at the EG Simmons

Florida 2022 Day 3: January 15, 2022

Drove from Griffen GA to Orlando Florida. Spent the night in front of Augie and Scott's home in Orlando. I had breakfast with Kirby in Griffen.

Florida 2022 Day 2: January 14, 2022

 Today we drove from Morgantown WV leaving before light and ended our day in Griffen GA spending the night in our friend Kirby's parking lot at his B&B. It was a 12 hour day where we had planned to stop in and see our friends Tom and Vicki in Anderson SC but Irene was not feeling well and didn't want to make Tom sick on the eve of his trip to Oregon for golf. I had dinner with Kirby in Griffen.

Florida 2022 Day 1: January 13, 2022

 We left Rochester at 2pm. Drove west on 90 into PA then down 79 towards Pittsburg. Ended our day in a crackle barrel in Morgantown WV. Dinner thanks to a gift card from Laura and Roland.
